With their parents cheering them on, the little ones took small steady steps forward, swayed to the music, sang their hearts out and soaked in the joyous atmosphere of celebration. It was by no means a small feat. It was an achievement as far as the children were concerned when they took to the stage to perform at Skool4Kidz’ first graduation concert at the Genexis Theatre in Fusionopolis on 25 November.

The children showcased their learning journey, demonstrating their physical and mental development from everything that they learned during their years with Skool4Kidz.

Aptly the concert theme was “What a Wonderful World” – and indeed it was for all 58 of them on stage representing the 10 Skool4Kidz centres. For them school had never been so much fun and enriching – learning new things, making new friends and becoming smarter.

They had practised since April. They had rapped, told stories, and performed cultural dances and songs from distant lands as far away as Egypt and Brazil. The performance items helped the children to better understand the world through the Skool4Kidz ‘unique syllabus that is based on Urie Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological System. It enables them to make sense of the environment by learning “Who I Am”, “Where I Belong”, “What I Want To Be” and “My Global Planet”.

From the confidence displayed, it was obvious how the children have grown – with greater confidence, better social skills and increased understanding of other cultures.

The concert was a huge success, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the principals and teachers from the 10 Skool4Kidz centres, namely Yishun Orchid Spring, Senja Parc View, Sengkang Anchorvale Crescent, Punggol Waterway Banks, Tampines GreenLeaf, Marsiling Drive, Woodlands Crescent and Woodlands Ring Road.
