Parents and children came together for coding fun at Yishun Grove Spring for our SG60 Hour of Code session.
Hour of Code (HOC) is a global movement that has connected over 102 million students worldwide through fun, hands-on coding activities. Since 2017, Skool4Kidz has participated in HOC yearly with our preschoolers, encouraging problem-solving, creativity and confidence with technology.
This year’s HOC week held between 8-12 Dec 2025, was more meaningful as Skool4Kidz highlighted the SG60 theme in the activities. Children explored coding through English and Mother Tongue languages (Chinese, Malay and Tamil). Each level enjoyed activities that connected coding with Singapore’s culture, landmarks and history.
We also introduced stronger parent involvement this year. Parents received Home-Skool Connector activities to extend learning at home while some joined their children coding in centre. Others shared photos of their child enjoying local food, visiting heritage sites or crafting SG60-themed creations together.
N2 children began their adventure with Bee-Bot. They learned about iconic local dishes such as chilli crab, roti prata and nasi lemak. The activity encouraged teamwork, communication and giving directional instructions.

K1 children explored famous Singapore landmarks using Tale-Bot. They viewed pictures of the Merlion, Marina Bay Sands and Gardens by the Bay. Children spoke about their experiences at these places and what makes each site special.

K2 children used MatataBot as a time machine to explore Singapore’s history. They learned about events such as Sang Nila Utama’s discovery, kampong life and the first MRT ride.
“I’ve enjoyed seeing how the children show their understanding on the rules of the game and it was interesting to see them teaching us (adults) with confidence. Most importantly, I believe that the most enjoyable activity for all of us was carrying out this activity with both parent and child and seeing the joy on their faces,” Aylva and Aylna’s mother shared.

Proud smiles as our young coders received their HOC certificates.
