An overcast sky and the threat of rain would have kept most children at home on the morning of 3 December 2016. But not the little ones at the Skool4Kidz Preschool at Block 807C Ping Yi Greens in Chai Chee Road; it was to be a grand and memorable day for them. They were up bright and early to take part in their school’s official opening.

At about 10am, Guest of Honour Mr Tan Chuan-Jin, Minister for Social and Family Development and Adviser to Marine Parade GRC grassroots organisations, arrived in the midst of slight drizzle accompanied by grassroot leaders.

He officially declared the 9th Skool4Kidz centre opened by signing on a plaque brought to him by Chia Yi Zhong Xaviell from K1, and Lim Jing En from N2. After that he toured the four different bays for Infants and Playgroup, Nursery and Kindergarten children, and met the young ones and their family members. He was accompanied by Skool4Kidz Directors Mr Robert Leong, Mr Seet Lee Kiang and Dr Jane Ching-Kwan, and Operations Director Mr Timothy Chan, and centre Principal Ms Diana Elizabeth.

The grassroots leaders who joined the Minister at the ceremony included CCC Chairman Prof Teo Cheng Swee, CCMC Chairman of Kampong Kembangan CC Mr Teo Tian Sing Melvin, CCMC Chairman of Kampong Ubi CC Mr Ngoi Khor Peng, representatives from ECDA, S4K Management team, parents, children and residents.

The opening ceremony was followed by an Open House for the residents in the neighbourhood.

Skool4Kidz Ping Yi Greens began operation on 1 June 2016 and has the capacity for 117 infant and child care places for residents in the area.

Minister Tan Chuan-Jin penned his well wishes for Skool4Kidz Ping Yi Greens on the opening plaque.
