Our K1s at Skool4kidz Preschool @ Sembawang Canberra East Crown diving into programming with their tech toys.

Skool4Kidz Preschool @ Sembawang Canberra East Crown has captured the prestigious Shining Star Award at the MatataWorld Robotics Competition (MWRC) 2024. This is an outstanding follow-up to the success of Campus @ Sengkang Riverside Park and Preschool @ Yishun Oleander Breeze that were placed second in past years.

The global competition, which inspires children aged 5-14 to engage in robotics and programming, and celebrate their creativity and technical skills, was concluded on 11 June 2024. The team from Skool4Kidz won the coveted award in the junior category against some 100 groups from Belarus, China, Iceland, Indonesia, Malaysia, Portugal, Russia and the United Arab Emirates.

The theme for this year’s MWRC was “Future City,” challenging participants to design urban environments featuring smart homes, eco-friendly transportation and sustainable energy. Working with their teachers, our talented “Tech Wizards” team of 4 K1 preschoolers coded and programmed the robots to navigate around the imaginary future city the teachers created.

Thereafter, our little coders used Tale-Bot Pro and Matatalab Pro Coding Set to introduce an intelligent driving programme. The tech toys travel through the modern city to visit the urban artificial intelligence centre, ecology park, and new energy management centre in the modern city. The project was recorded on video and submitted online to the organiser for judging.

The Shining Star Award is the highest honour in the junior group category. Our preschoolers’ project stood out for its futuristic city design, technical precision and engaging presentation.

Participation in the competition has allowed our children to learn more about the importance of creativity and technology in addressing real-world challenges for the future of urban living.

This outstanding success reflects the dedication and hard work of our children and educators. It also reaffirms Skool4Kidz’s commitment to foster innovation and excellence in early childhood education.

Our winning team will be receiving certificates, medals, a trophy and one M1B Digital Microscope.

Our little coders’ creative and colourfully “designed” robots for an imaginative “Future City”.
