Minister of State (MOS) Sun Xueling conducted a book reading to our preschoolers at our Preschool @ Punggol Waterway Cascadia on 7 Jul 2022. The activity commemorates Skool4Kidz Care Fund book donation in support of her children’s picture book, What Ants Do On Rainy Days, to needy preschoolers. Streamed via Facebook Live, our parents joined in too.
MOS Sun, for the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Social and Family Development, is also the Member of Parliament for Punggol West. A mother of two young children, she wrote and self-published the book as part of her effort towards changing society’s rigid definition of success.

At the book reading, our Skool4Kidz Care Fund donated 220 copies of MOS Sun’s story book to needy Kindergarten 1 preschoolers across our campuses and preschools. This is on top of MOS Sun’s personal donation of 105 copies of her story book in the four languages to our Skool4Kidz preschools.
The book donation is an initiative under the Skool4Kidz Care Fund, the community social outreach and corporate social responsibility arm of Skool4Kidz Preschools. It has donated more than ten thousand books on nursery rhymes and other topics of interest to preschoolers including needy children across Singapore.
For the Love of (Mother Tongue) Reading.
The book donation launch was organised by Skool4Kidz Preschool at Punggol Waterway Cascadia in support of Mother Tongue reading. MOS Sun read the English version of her book to our Kindergarten 1 preschoolers. Concurrently the Malay version of the book was read by a Skool4Kidz Preschools Educator, all livestreamed via Facebook Live with our parents tuning in.

Encouraging our little ones to rise up to challenges
The book espouses multiple pathways of success to enable children to grow up happy and confident with courage and curiosity to make new discoveries. The lessons learned comes at an important time after children have faced many challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic.
We appreciate MOS Sun for taking time away from her busy schedule to read to our little ones!
