This National Day 2022, Skool4Kidz Preschoolers continue their annual community outreach efforts to benefit other children with developmental needs. We are honoured to have Minister Ong Ye Kung, Ministry of Health and Adviser to Sembawang Grassroots Organisations, join our little ones in this charity drive. Held at our Preschool in Sembawang East Crown, the event also commemorates Singapore’s National Day celebrations.
Stronger Together, Majulah!
In line with the theme of National Day 2022, our preschoolers performed a min-concert and presented Minister Ong one of the hand-painted art pieces.
Our Kindergarten 2 preschooler representative (little Ms Jia Xuan) and Minister Ong completed a painting together to conclude the month-long donation drive. The charity drive is in support of Skool4Kidz Care fund efforts to promote children’s inclusiveness in their early years’ learning.
Through the Little Giving Artists charity initiative, our Kindergarten 1 and 2 preschoolers hand-painted acrylic art pieces with the theme “QR Code and I”. The theme expresses our children’s experience during the COVID19 pandemic of Technology Empowerment through visual art. Our preschoolers are inspired and guided by the art educators from renowned enrichment provider, Crestar Learning Centre.
Inculcating Compassion and Selflessness
Our children are imbued at a young age to show compassion and exude selflessness to support the less fortunate peers in the community. Close to 170 art pieces are showcased in an online art gallery on the Skool4Kidz website. Donations at a minimum sum of $30 were collected and donors can bring home their selected art piece. All proceeds were donated via Giving.sg and a total of $14,000 was raised including 40% donation matching by the Singapore Tote Board. The donation will go towards the purchase of gym equipment to benefit children from AWWA’s (Asian Women’s Welfare Association) Kindle Garden. They plan to use donation to purchase indoor gym equipment and related materials to help their children’s gross motor development. Kindle Garden is Singapore’s first inclusive preschool providing a non-discriminatory curriculum for children with developmental needs, many of whom come from needy backgrounds.
The charity art auction is supported by Skool4Kidz Preschools’ Corporate Social Responsibility arm, namely Skool4Kidz Care Fund. The Little Giving Artists is a community outreach project in its second year by Skool4Kidz Preschoolers to pay forward.
“Our Skool4Kidz Preschools and the Skool4Kidz Care Fund feels deeply for children with developmental needs. We are delighted to support AWWA two years in a row and Kindle Garden. We
contribute in small ways towards a safe, fun and holistic environment for children of all abilities,” affirmed Ms. Teri Teo, Skool4Kidz Care Fund representative and Director of Communications and Capability Development.
