Skool4Kidz Preschoolers demonstrate coding skills using robotic toys during Hour of Code 2021.
Our preschoolers are coding with technology-enabled robotic toys to help them build essential Future-ready 21st-century skills. Since 2017 when Skool4Kidz Preschool was the first preschool to host the largest Hour of Code meet in Singapore, we support this global event yearly.
The Hour of Code is a worldwide movement that encourages the young and old to spend an hour learning to code. Programming activities help our preschoolers become familiar with technology for exploration, experimentation and analysis. Traits of critical thinking, creativity and problem solving are reinforced through practising communication skills, perseverance and collaboration.
Coding is Fun @ Hour of Code!
All Skool4Kidz Preschools participated in the Hour of Code 2021 with Kindergarten children spending an hour within 6 and 10 December specifically on coding activities. Across Singapore, they demonstrated coding skills using the MatataBot robots from Matatalab with the theme of ‘Four Seasons”.

Our children programme the MatataBot’s movements to draw various shapes to describe and solve challenges. Our educators also encourage the preschoolers to recall the commands without referring to previous facilitations. Through these, the children articulate logical thinking, sequencing and basic coding concepts. The Hour of Code 2021 certificates of participation were presented to all Kindergarten children upon completion.
