110 K1 and K2 students from Skool4Kidz centres participated in the Preschool’s first-ever Coding Challenge in December 2023. Our budding tech talent were competing for the Best Coding Star, Best Teamwork and Best Robot Design Awards.

In groups of 4 to 5, the children’s mission was to design a grip map and develop a set of instructions to command a tech bot to complete a task. They also had to design an attractive ‘shell’ for their tech bot using paper cut-outs.

The competition tested the children’s imagination, creativity, teamwork and coding skills. The experiential learning challenge also encouraged our little ones to multi-task effectively.

Skool4Kidz Preschool @ Punggol WaterWay Banks took home the K1 Best Coding Star Award.

Skool4Kidz Preschool @ Sembawang Canberra East Crown won the K2 Best Coding Star Award. The winning K1 team was from Skool4Kidz Preschool @ Punggol WaterWay Banks. Both teams received a box of Lego Gear Bots as a prize.

The Best Teamwork Award went to Skool4Kidz Preschool @ Yishun Orchid Spring (K2) and Skool4Kidz Preschool @ Sanja Parc View (K1). They received a Monopoly Junior game.

The K2 students from Skool4Kidz Preschool @ Sembawang Canberra East Crown and the K1 children from Skool4Kidz Preschool @ Yishun clinched the Best Robot Design Award. Their prize was a box of Emoji Window Art.

Every participating Skool4Kidz centre received an appreciation plaque for their commitment to the challenge and demonstrating their students’ coding prowess.
