Learning outdoors is always fun – and coding activities are no exception! In late 2022, more than 800 of our Kindergarten children from Skool4Kidz Preschools spent their Hour of Code (HOC) coding outdoors. Various centres each held an hour of coding activities for the study of plants between the 5th and 9th of December 2022.

Our children from Kindergarten 1 studied parts of a plant by planning a 13-step instruction to move a BeeBot tech toy on a grid map, showing and identifying each part.

Our K1 preschoolers enjoy the HOC session in the outdoor open spaces with their educator guiding them.

Coding is Fun

The Kindergarten 2 children learnt to program a 16-step instruction with Matatalab Motion Coding Blocks to go through the sequence of a plant’s life cycle.

All participants of the Global Hour of Code receive a certificate of achievement upon completion of the coding activities.

Congratulations to our tech-literate little ones! Every child received a certificate of achievement upon completion of coding exercises.

First Preschool in Singapore to host the Largest Coding Meet

Skool4Kidz Preschools were the first in Singapore to host the largest Global Coding meet in 2017. The Global Hour of Code movement encourages students’ interest in coding through hour-long fun activities and games.

As with other 21st century skills, technology empowerment is a key part of Skool4Kidz Preschools’ curriculum. Our future-ready little ones are encouraged to take part in global coding competitions. We are very proud that our little ones regularly participate and even won several awards in the various Global Robotics and Coding Competitions.

These sessions help to develop critical, logical thinking and the ability to structure ideas. Our preschoolers become familiar with using technology for problem-solving and experimentation and learn how to communicate and collaborate effectively. We support our technology-led programs with meaningful outdoor play for a well-rounded and wholesome learning experience.

Thank you, ECDA Beanstalk, for featuring Us at Technology Literacy

Technology Empowerment and Computer Literacy is a foundational life skill within our programmes. Coding is part of our preschool curriculum with trained educators implementing weekly lessons. It is an honour that our programme uniqueness in Technology Literacy is well recognised within the Early Childhood space in Singapore. We empower parents with home-based coding activities so they can engage their children at home too. Singapore’s Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) featured our coding advocacy and preschoolers at play coding outdoors to bring national awareness in their Quarterly Magazine, Grow at Beanstalk, too.
